TWILIGHT SYMPHONY

It gives me great pleasure today to interview the Drummer of Swedish band
                     Twilight Symphony....Henrik Leghissa
This Band have really impressed me,and were one of the first Bands that joined
us at Breakthru Metal Music.

They have shown me that there is Great Metal Music coming out of this country and it won't be to long before they start to get a lot more recognition.

    ********************************************************************************

Greetings from Henrik Leghissa & Twilight Symphony

1.Jenni: Thank you for Doing this Interview with us,it's a Pleasure for meto beable to do our first Interview with a band from Sweden.

Henrik L: The pleasure is all mine!

2.Jenni: Can you give us a brief description of what the Metal Scene is like inSweden, at the Moment?

Henrik L: Well.... the scene... if you can count HC to metal that was exploding but now it's fading a bit (lucky for me and all the rest here who hates pubic-retard boys running around with 10 sizes too big clothes and yells that they hate the system or whatever....)
Powermetal is a big thing here. That is kinda boring from my point of view, but it's better then nothing I guess. At least now it's 2 on a million that you'll hear something more metalwize then metallica on the radio here. The black&deathmetal scene is suffering from lack of new ideas/inbreed among the bands so... I guess people like us in T.S is needed to bring fresh blood into the scene (laughs). But seriously, a lot of swedish metal is becoming very monotone, of course there exceptions (that only confirms my statement) but still....

AND then there's the powermetal band that is doing things that halloween and company did like 15 years ago.... NOT that interesting in my eyes!

Jenni: 3. Where did the name of the band come from and is their any meaning behind it?

Henrik L; The name Twilight Symphony I actually came up with in a car going to a rehearsal.
We were  called Sufferchild back then... or to be correct we were nameless at that time 'cause
we didn't think that sufferchild suited our music anymore. Twilight I came up with after watching
the tvshow Twilightzone (laughs) and well... I think it was autumn back then too... and this was also
kind of a breaking point as I saw it that we wanted to play more dark music. The Symphony part is

a thing that I also came up with after listening to "Symphony of Destruction" (Megadeth if anyone did'nt know). Anyways I sat there pondering and it came up from the abyss of my mind; Twilight Symphony. Nowerdays the name really stand for what we want to bring to the listeners; A moody, melancholic metal symphony.

Jenni: 4.How long have the Band been together now?and have you had many Lineup changes since the Band formed?

Henrik L::Now THAT is a question I feared.... nah, only joking but we've been changing a lot of people in our past. Under the time we were named Mailman, Sufferchild etc etc we changed members like crazy.
But I don't think that time is relevant to the music we're composing now...

Under the T.S era we've changed one singer, guitarist and ADDED a bassplayer (the old bassplayer (Henrik Stenqvist) took up the guitar and also began to scream.... Now Johan has left us... so we're currently rehearsing without a leadguitarist, but it works out nicely... when we need 2 guitars we must IMAGINE it.... so... maybe a bit tricky...but it works... I hope there will come a new guit. along the road.... If we're about to get signed we're either gonna use Johan as a session musician or hire someone else to do the job. If we're gonna record the newest stuff we'll maybe not need a lead guit. only base our songs around powerful and acoustic-styled arrangements. The new material is more in that direction.

Jenni: 5.Where does the inspiration come from, to write such great powerful songs.

Henrik L: Inspiration.... hmm that's very hard.... we get our ideas from everything. Like my lyrics for an example comes out in the middle of the night.... from some period of philosofy... and well...
we pick up things from everyday life. Musicwise it's a like a tornado... lots of different bands/genres spinning around fast as hell... then we pick up things in the escape so to speak.
Like Johan listens to much thrash and music by Joe Satriani etc... Henrik S. is listening to just about everything, Benny is a 80's metalguy and me... well I listen to black/death/doom/avantgarde/jazz/guitarbased pop/classic etc etc.... so it's a hell of a mixture.

One thing we never and never will listen to is that dance/techno/goa gaystuff.... provokes anguish on my part anyways.... and I know the rest of the guys is with me on that...

Jenni: 6.Can you tell us anything about what to expect from TWILIGHT SYMPHONY In the future.

Henrik L : We're gonna play more moody, acoustic and take the music in that direction. We're also gonna try and record and distribute a demo before this year is over. And well.... due to the lack of a second guitarist that fits our needs we're most likely not to play live in the near future.. but this can change... who knows what the future holds?

Jenni: 7. When can we expect the new Album to be released?

HenrikL : See question 6.... (We'll try and get something new out this fall)

Jenni: 8.Are there many places for Metal Bands to play in your area?

Henrik L: On that question the answer is no. All the places around here either take on popbands or pubic HC bands

Jenni: 9.What Bands do you like to listen to Personally, and is it easy to get
Metal Music in record shops in Sweden?

Henrik L: Concerning the bands I'm listening to a lot of stuff... I like Oasis (the other guys in the band almost
beats me up because of this. I've also beginning to listen to and APPRICIATE more doomy bands such as Anathema, My Dying Bride and so on. One newfound passion is the band Devil Doll who I think is very talented and really makes "dreamy" music.
And yes as a matter of fact. Even on supermarkets you can find metal cd's, but only mainstream band. In smaller recordstores the situation is better and there's always some mailorder companies to go to.

Jenni : 10.Are you one of  the main songwriters  in the Band?
Henrik L: We all contribute to the songs. The music is mainly written by Henrik S. and before also Johan.
The lyrics we all contributes to. That is so different from time to time.
